Bostonians pay the most for their tap water
Bostonians paid more than other Americans for their publicly supplied drinking water in 2008 at $5.76 per thousand gallons, according to an annual survey conducted by the NUS Consulting Group.
Respondents to the annual survey for the period ending July 1, 2008, included 51 US water systems.
According to the survey, the average price of water in the United States rose by 7.3 percent for the period ending July 1. The average cost of water in the United States in 2008 was $2.81 per thousand gallons.
The lowest price paid per thousand gallons among surveyed cities was in Savannah, GA, at $1.09, the survey reported.
