Hungry Nations and Virtual Water Trade
The idea of sourcing water intensive crops from areas of the world where water is abundant, is what drove Tony Allen to first develop the concept of virtual water.The concept, which in 2007 won the Stockholm Water Prize, identified ways to alleviate water stress through importing food and consumer products with water embedded within.
